Working Principle of HRC Fuse
The HRC fuse link carries an average rated current under normal working conditions; the heat energy developed is not enough to melt the fuse element.
On the other hand, when the fault or a short circuit develops, a strong fault current begins to flow through the fuse connection. This flow melts before the fault current’s initial peak.
The melted element is vaporised and scattered. In the arc form, a high-resistance substance is formed from the chemical reaction between element vapour and quartz powder. It helps in quenching the arc by interrupting the fault current.
